Start on your own today. Or bring Thredly to your institution.
Thredly runs two ways. One you can have live this afternoon with no approval, in Canvas or any other LMS. One your institution deploys with progress tied to every student’s account. Both are configured once before semester, and both keep the page aware of the week from there.

First steps
A course guide, live this afternoon.
How it works
One line of embed code, pasted into your Canvas page or any other LMS. Any educator can have a semester-aware course guide running in their own course the same day. Progress saves to the student's device.
What it does
Thredly shows different content by week, so welcome videos, reading lists, to-do items and resources surface at the right moment. You configure the course once before semester begins, and from Week 1 to the final week the page shows students what matters now.
One thing to know
Interactive elements save a student's progress on the device they are using. If a student switches devices, that progress does not follow them. When following progress across devices matters to you, that is the LTI path.
The same guide, connected to every account.
How it works
Installed as a Canvas integration, embedded through the Canvas page editor. Because it connects at the institutional level, it goes through an approval process before it is live. This is the path your institution runs when it is ready to move beyond a single educator's course.
What it does
Everything in Standard, and learner progress is tied to each student's account, so it follows them across devices and sessions rather than living on one browser.
What opens up over time
The integration is the foundation for connecting Thredlywith Canvas Assignments, Announcements and messaging, and for content personalised to each student’s progress. Standard shows every student the right week. LTI can begin to show each student their own place within it.
- Can I start on Standard and move to LTI later?
- Yes. Most institutions arrive that way. An educator runs Standard in their own course, the department sees it working, and the institution moves to LTI when it is ready for progress tied to student accounts and deeper integration.
- Does Standard really need no approval?
- Correct. It is a single line of embed code you add to your own Canvas page, so it does not touch institutional systems. Approval only applies to the LTI integration.
- Will moving to LTI mean rebuilding my course?
- No. The course you configured carries across. LTI changes how Thredly connects to Canvas and to student accounts, not the course content you have already set up.
- Which one should a single educator choose?
- Standard, almost always. It gives you the full semester-aware guide today with nothing to approve. LTI is the institutional step, for when following progress across devices and connecting to Canvas systems matters.
Configured once. Running all semester. Either way.
